Ingredients
3 squares unsweetened chocolate
1/3 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 egg yolks, beaten
1 Tablespoon instant coffee
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups heavy cream, whipped
a splash of rum
Process
- Turn icebox to its coldest setting.
- Put chocolate and water in a saucepan and bring to a bowl over low heat, stirring vigorously until blended.
- Gradually stir in well beaten egg yolks and coffee.
- Let cool.
- Fold in vanilla and cream.
- Freeze in icebox until firm.
- Remove a short while before serving.
- Garnish with whipped cream if you want.
