Meringue

I was so excited to see that this recipe was given to Mom by none other than the talented Lila Vultee, a beloved family friend and fellow Mainer. Oh the stories I could tell about this former caterer. She is a delight and I owe her a long overdue visit. 

Ingredients
4 egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream of tarter
1 cup sugar 
white vinegar

Process
  1. Heat oven to 275 degrees. 
  2. Sift sugar and cream of tartar. 
  3. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. 
  4. Add a teaspoon or two of white vinegar. 
  5. Add the sugar and cream of tartar mix and beat until stiff. 
  6. Shape into a greased pie pan and cool 1 hour.
